Sauna Animism & Sacred Bathing Rituals from the North - Friday Sept 25 @ 5:30pm $70 at Hot Spell Sauna

Join us for an evening of magical lore as we deep dive into the living sauna traditions of northern europe & the nordic region. I will take you through my years of research & experience sweat bathing across the north and on the lands of my people; we will discuss the elements of the sauna, etiquette & what to expect during traditional sauna, spirits of the sauna, sauna tools, sauna folk magic - and more! After discussion, we will have a chance to embody what we learned and weave a collective spell together, relax with refreshments, and enjoy the season.

**Please note that Hot Spell’s summer location is nestled above Seven bridges trail in Grant park in South Milwaukee. Navigate to Fredrick C. Wulff Lodge for the most accurate GPS directions.

THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU IF:
You want to learn more about your Nordic or European ancestry!
You have never gone to a sauna before or ever thought about bathing rituals!
You are a seasoned sauna goer and ready to dive deeper!

THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR YOU IF:
You aren’t excited about animism, pagan ways or magic!
You have trouble playing well with others!
You plan to arrive late / leave early - this can be disruptive to the flow of class. Please allow someone else to have that space instead and come to the next one that works better for you. I will be hosting more.

AGREEMENTS:

1. You must follow all Hot Spell rules and sign their waiver.

2. You agree to arrive on time and you must not be in a rush to leave. Part of the magic of sacred bathing is leaving when you’re finished, not because you have somewhere else to be. Please attend with respect for others in mind. 

3. The sauna is a sacred space and must be treated as such. Any tampering, stealing, or excess loitering will not be tolerated.

4. CANCELLATION POLICY: TICKETS ARE NON REFUNDABLE. But they are transferable! Find a friend to buy your ticket and let me know who is coming via email, or let me know to reach out to the waitlist (if any). Exceptions will be made in the case of illness; please inform me within 24 hours of class time so I can offer the spot to the waitlist. Questions? familiarmke@gmail.com

5. We reserve the right to cancel due to low sign ups.

What to bring:

-Wear loose, comfortable clothing with a bathing suit under your clothing for quick changing and bring 2-3 towels (mandatory). Water bottles cannot be glass.
-Bring a bathrobe, shower sandals, comb, body brush (optional)
-Bring a snack with enough to pass (optional)
